AF Cancels IT Conference Under Budget Concerns

1 min read

The Air Force has canceled its Alabama-based information technology conference this year due to budget concerns, the branch announced Monday.

In a media advisory, the branch said its financial resources are heavily constrained, resulting in increasing scrutiny over Air Force sponsored and co-sponsored events.

The Montgomery conference, scheduled for August 27 to 29, was set to cost nearly $1.4 million in travel expenses for Air Force and government attendees, the branch said.

Since 1983, the Air Force has cancelled five of the conferences due to concerns over cost.

In November, President Obama issued an executive order calling on agencies to reduce spending on travel and IT.
