Several federal leaders and executives agreed at a Thursday conference that agencies and private companies should have more dialogue for information technology acquisitions, Federal Times reports.

Pete Tseronis, Energy Department chief technology officer, suggested agencies conduct agency-wide meetings to share ideas with contractors at the Acquisition Excellence conference in Washington.

Tseronis said these meetings would promote information sharing between the public and private sectors, according to Federal Times.

As a result, contracting firms would be more attuned to government needs and have an avenue to share new developments in products and services.

Officials also believe the move would help agencies decide how to best structure program requirements, Federal Times reports.
