Office of Management and Budget Director Jack Lew will replace William Daley as White House chief of staff later this month, President Obama announced Monday.

Obama said Daley informed him that “after spending time reflecting with his family over the holidays, he decided it was time to leave Washington” and return to Chicago.

Lew became OMB director in November 2010 after Peter Orszag, the Obama administration’s first budget director, resigned in July 2010.

According to Federal News Radio, Lew will stay at OMB to finalize the fiscal year 2013 budget and there are no indications of a successor at OMB.
