New Biometrics Software Allows Easy, Secure Management of Medical Records

1 min read

land-servA new secure, web-based, subscription medical-information service using fingerprint biometrics to provide first responders and hospital emergency room staff with secure, immediate access to critical information was successfully deployed today by an Ohio-based fire department.

Created by health IT company My LifePlan and BIO-Key International, Inc., a developer of advanced identification solutions, the new software MyChoice makes vital medical information available with the simple scan of a fingerprint. Subscribers will be able to maintain all of their medical information and designated emergency contacts, which are now accessible at any time and from any location. Also, access to this information is protected by BIO-key’s fingerprint identification software and My LifePlan’s proprietary methods.

The new software is currently used by the Fire Department of Stow in Ohio, and Akron General Medical Center has also expressed its intent to use the service. However, CEO and founder of My LifePlan Ruth Skocic said the company plans to take its new product nationwide.

“This project has been a big undertaking in finding the right fit in this health care ecosystem, which we are taking nationwide,” Skocic said. “In healthcare, an industry that is broken in drastic ways, trying to find the best for the people can be a difficult burden, and we owe this to consumers.”
