financial-statement-fraud-gangsPresident Barack Obama’s Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force on Friday announced the launch of StopFraud.gov, a hub of information aimed to educate the public on how it can protect itself from fraud and to report it wherever and however it happens.

Robb Adkins, executive director of the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force, said while the task force is the broadest coalition of law enforcement, investigatory and regulatory agencies ever assembled to combat fraud, it still needs the collaboration of a vigilant, informed public.

“Throughout government there are resources to help hardworking, honest Americans protect themselves from fraud and report fraud, and StopFraud.gov will connect the public with those valuable tools,” he said.

On StopFraud.gov, consumers will find resources by federal agencies on how they can protect themselves from fraud and report fraudulent activity. The website also offers access to the latest announcements, press releases, speeches and information relating to the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force.

The Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force is working to improve efforts across the federal executive branch, and with state and local partners, to investigate and prosecute significant financial crimes, ensure fair and effective punishment for those who commit financial crimes, combat discrimination in lending and financial markets, and recover proceeds for victims of financial crimes.
