Admiral Mullen Visits USNS Comfort

M_Id_93208_admiral_mullenChairman of the Joint Chiefs Adm. Michael Mullen made a visit to the crew members of USNS Comfort on Friday. He wanted to personally thank them for the work they have done to provide medical assistance and care to the victims of the massive earthquake in Haiti.

He said: “You got out in record time, you got down here in record time, and made a huge difference. I am sure you saw things you never expected to see. You provided such relief and comfort.”

Before leaving the crew, Mullen handed out coins and posed for pictures. He met with thousands of American troops still in Haiti, members of the 82nd airborne division, as well as members of the Haitian government. During his visit, Mullen also toured the Port-Au-Prince seaport.
