Chopra Speaks at Consumer Electronics Show

Conv_AneeshChopra720_320x240Aneesh Chopra, Federal CTO, spoke at the Consumer Electronics Show is Las Vegas, Nevada this past week. His first speaking event was last Thursday morning at Consumer Electronics Show Government.

He did a video broadcast with London Mayor Boris Johnson, who was announcing the launch of London’s data.gov. Another video broadcast at the CES Government was between Linda Cureton, NASA CIO, from Las Vegas and Jerry Pennell, 2012 London Olympics CIO, from London.One of the main topics of discussion was on how our countries face many common challenges on the information technology front.

During the press conference, Chopra received a challenging remark from Gary Shapiro, the Consumer Electronics Association chief. Shapiro said that the government often gets in the way when it comes to innovation. According to NextGov reports, in response to this, Chopra said, “We don’t have to agree on every issue, but we can always say we have room for improvement to spur innovation and entrepreneurship.”
